The laboratory was jointly established by China National Research Institute of Food & Fermentation Industries (CNRIFFI) and Peking Union Medical College Hospital. The laboratory has made major breakthroughs in the fields of food raw material safety and functional factor research, functional staple food safety manufacturing and core equipment set-up, functional staple food safety evaluation, clinical evaluation of functional staple food, nutrition and safety research, food function mechanism, etc., innovatively put forward the concept of "functional staple food", and created nutritious functional staple foods (rice, noodles, porridge, meal replacement) that are suitable for different populations.

Key Laboratory of Functional and Nutritional Food

The laboratory is one of the first batch of labs that have been accredited with the title of "China's Key Laboratory of Light Industry" by the China National Light Industry Council. As an important part of China's scientific and technological innovation system in the light industry field, it is an important base to carry out high-level research and development activities, cultivate outstanding scientific and technological talents, conduct high-level academic exchanges and promote the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, and also an important support for the innovation system of the light industry. Focusing on the medium and long-term planning and industrial guidelines of the national food industry, the laboratory carries out safety control technology for food processing process, novel food raw material development technology, nutrition safety research and functional staple food development technology, beverage and protein resource development technology, functional factor research and special meal development technology, recombined food and its core equipment technology, experimental food instrument development technology, industrial production technology, nutrition mechanism and nutrition model research, electronic bionic evaluation and physical property research, novel food additive preparation technology and corresponding product development. At the same time, the laboratory also carries out research on the application of high-tech in the food industry, such as comprehensive utilization and emission reduction of food industry resources, efficient extraction and separation, and energy conservation. Based on the existing cooperation mode of food raw materials and enterprises, combined with market demand and the latest technology, the laboratory provides new technical support and services, and provide more and better technical support, technical services and technical support for the rapid development of the food industry.

Innovative service platform for research and development, safety testing, standard setting and nutritional evaluation of functional food

The platform is led by CNRIFFI, with the joint participation of Beijing Haoyijia Food Co., Ltd., Beijing Baoderui Health Industry Co., Ltd. and Horubon (Beijing) Biotechnology Co., Ltd.. The lab incorporates functional raw material development platform, functional food research and development platform, food safety control platform, industry data exchange platform together, builds a whole industry chain service system from raw materials to products to experience by establishing menu based customization technology service mode, comprehensive service mode of the whole industry chain, joint service mode with enterprises and other technology service modes. The functional technology service platform integrates a variety of service systems such as high-tech, pilot scale service, evaluation service, testing service, and standard formulation, which provide rapidly and effectively improvement of the technical level of the industry, increase the scientific and technological content of Beijing's enterprise products, promote the efficiency of enterprise operations, and explore new ways for the in-depth development of agricultural and sideline products and their wastes.
