On August 31, the online opening ceremony of the “Overseas Training Course on Processing and Preservation Technology of Agricultural Products for the Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe” sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of China and organized by China National Research Institute of Food & Fermentation Industries Co., Ltd, was held with 45 participants from the Ministry of Agriculture of the Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe. Xiao Dan, Assistant General Manager of Sinolight Corporation of Poly Group, Secretary of the Party Committee and General Manager of CNRIFFI, Mr. Celso Carlos Sousa Pontes Garrido, Subrogating Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development of the Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe (hereinafter referred to as “Sao Tome and Principe”), Mr. Hu Bin, Chargé d’affaires ad interim of the Chinese Embassy in Sao Tome and Principe, Mr. Américo de Ceita, President of the Me-Zochi District of Sao Tome and Principe, and Mr. Jia Jinhong, Chairman of the Technical Expert Group on Agriculture and Animal Husbandry of Sao Tome and Principe, were invited to attend the opening ceremony.
This training has been highly valued by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe. It is the first time that all trainees and foreign guests have participated in the training since the outbreak of the epidemic. It is also a new attempt of online foreign aid training by CNRIFFI. It lays a foundation for more bilateral projects and creates an environment for trainees to better feel the learning atmosphere.
The training course hosted by CNRIFFI implemented the “nine projects” of China-Africa cooperation proposed by the Eighth Ministerial Conference of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. It is not only a concrete practice of China-Africa “poverty reduction and benefiting agriculture project” and “capacity building project”, but also a vivid portrayal of deepening friendship and cooperation between China and Sao Tome and Principe. It has contributed China’s strength to overcoming challenges such as the global food crisis and epidemic crisis.
