Enzymatic preparation of corn protein powder for the development of corn peptides

This project takes maize protein powder, a by-product protein resource in the starch processing industry, as raw material and researches a high purity maize protein extraction method, with the protein content of the extracted protein reaching over 85%. On this basis, a new technology for the preparation of corn oligopeptides by enzymatic digestion was researched. In 2009, the industrial transformation was carried out in cooperation with Beijing Sino-Food & Sea Biotechnology Co., Ltd, including process design, equipment selection, engineering design, production line construction and trial production, etc., and an industrial production line with an annual capacity of 1,500 tonnes of corn oligopeptides was built. In 2010, the Institute, as the reporting unit, approved corn oligopeptide as the first new resource food of peptide by the Ministry of Health (Ministry of Health Announcement No. 15 of 2010), and took the lead in formulating the light industry standard "QB/T 4707-2014 Corn Oligopeptide Powder" in 2014. The project has extended the industrial chain of corn starch processing, improved the level of comprehensive utilization of corn technology, and driven the technological progress of the food industry and health industry.
